This is my first time in my life to attend Thaipusam, and I even had the chance to witness the process of pins and hooks going through the skin! I was so close to the Hindu devotees who were carrying the kavadis, something which I never even did dream of.
The process of carrying kavadis is a form of giving thanks to God Murugan as what Hindu believe. Usually Hindu would make a vow to offer a kavadi when a request to the God is fulfilled.

The preparation of kavadi. Look at the man standing on top of the metal railing, a balancing act?

Ladies are not left out.
Including young girls.
