Bottle gourd, also known as Hu Lu 葫芦 in chinese. Bottle gourd is basically a vegetable but it can be used as a container or utensil when dried. In fengshui, Hu Lu is used to hang in front of main door, it is believed that it can prevent any evil from entering the house..
I have not seen a real bottle gourd before. Guess it was an eye opener experience for me.
A suspended bottle gourd looks cool isn't it?
