Singapore River

Singapore river plays an important role in the early days, it was a place where all tradings were done here. It became the centre of commercial activities back then.

In 1977, there was a major plan to transform Singapore river into a clean river within a ten year period. A massive resettlement exercise was carried out; hawkers, squatters and industries were relocated.

In 1987, Singapore river achieved the goal of a clean river. And it did not stop here, our river now has become part of our reservoirs.

After going through some many years of changes, the riverbank is still full of active of a different nature. So have you ever wondered whether is the river (water) that brought wealth to the surrounding?
